A brilliant duet is coming: Joss Stone and Smokey Robinson

November 16th, 2008

A new one duet to our collection.

The standards album came out in June 2006, but Robinson is still doing post-production on the original songs. He rounded out the original Los Angeles sessions by recording newer duets with Joss Stone, India.Arie and Carlos Santana, for a planned album release early next year.

Things Get Steamy on ‘The Tudors’

November 16th, 2008

Guess who’s giving ET the exclusive behind-the-scenes scoop on the set of “The Tudors”?

For the show’s third season, British soul singer Joss Stone is joining the cast of Showtime’s always steamy historical drama, and the Protestant Reformation never looked so good!

Stone may have sold over 7.5 million albums worldwide, starred in movies and been nominated for four Grammy Awards, but yet again she is taking on another role – Jonathan Rhys Meyers’ sexy new love interest!  The period show revolves around King Henry VIII’s (Rhys Meyers) many loves and conquests, and Stone will be playing Anne of Cleves — just one of the many wives who have heated up the King’s bed.

But fans of the show won’t get to satiate their appetite for more royal mayhem until April, when the sexy third season of “The Tudors” hits Showtime.

In interview to Billboard, Joss Stone reveals more about her new album

November 5th, 2008

British singer Joss Stone is playing her part to encourage Americans to vote today (Nov. 4) in the 2008 president election. “I keep having interviews about trying to encourage people to vote, and people ask, ‘Why do you care, you’re English’” Stone tells Billboard.com “That tells me that maybe America doesn’t realize how much they affect the rest of the world.”

Last night, Stone performed her politically driven new song “Governmentalist” as part of voter registration group HeadCount’s sold-out concert at the Highline Ballroom in New York. The show also featured Phil Lesh, Robert Randolph, Warren Haynes, John Medeski, Disco Biscuit, ?uestlove and Stanton Moor, and was streamed live on iclips.net.

“Governmentalist,” which Stone wrote in response to criticism she received from a U.K. government official after speaking against poor medical care of Iraq War veterans, will appear on the 21-year-old singer’s forthcoming album. Stone says the as-yet-untitled set was written and recorded in about a week earlier this year in Devon, England, and hopes it will be released in April.

“I kind of woke up one morning and wanted to make an album,” Stone says. “It’s very, very raw. It’s a bunch of musicians, writers and myself, and we’re just jamming, basically.”
